JP Morgan’s apprenticeships in the UK are primarily degree-level programmes that last for four years. They offer a couple of main pathways:
- Financial Services: This programme gives you a comprehensive introduction to the financial services industry. You could find yourself working in investment operations, compliance, or finance teams. You’ll be studying for a BSc (Hons) in Applied Finance from the University of Exeter or an MA (Hons) in Business: Financial Services Finance from Heriot-Watt University.
- Technology: In a world where finance is increasingly driven by technology, this is a seriously exciting area to be in. You’ll get a grounding in how technology underpins a global financial firm, with potential specialisms in software engineering, network engineering, cybersecurity, data analytics, and more. The academic side of this apprenticeship leads to a BSc (Hons) in Digital and Technology Solutions from the University of Exeter.
The Entry Requirements
To be in with a shot, you’ll need a strong academic record. The typical requirements are:
- A-Levels: Three B grades (or equivalent). For the Technology programme, one of these needs to be in a maths, computing, or IT-based subject. For the Financial Services programme, you’ll need a STEM or business-related subject.
- GCSEs: You’ll need English at grade 5 or above and Maths at grade 6 or above.
But it’s not just about the grades. JP Morgan is looking for people with strong communication and collaboration skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a real drive to learn.
Salary and Benefits
While specific salary figures can be hard to pin down and may change, you can expect a competitive starting salary. For example, some of their graduate apprenticeships in Scotland have advertised a starting salary of around £24,000.
The huge benefit, of course, is that you’re earning a full-time wage while studying for a degree, with your tuition fees covered. This means you can graduate with a degree from a top university, four years of experience at a leading global firm, and no student debt. You’ll also have access to a network of peers and the company’s Employee Assistance Program to support you throughout the programme.

You’ll be part of a team, working on projects and contributing to the business from day one. At the end of the four years, there’s the potential to be offered a full-time position with the firm.
