Google Apprenticeships (a guide for 2024)

Want to work for Google?

Google shapes the way that we consume information every single day.

They power a host of products, from maps to emails to autonomous cars. Key to their apprenticeship program, google apprentices get exposure to different areas and teams at Google while gaining a qualification and improving their professional skills.

Google’s apprenticeship scheme offers a foot in the door to one of the most innovative tech companies on the market.

When do they open?

In the UK, Google apprenticeship applications open in October of each year for an intake in the following year.

That means that applications for this year’s October intake will start their apprenticeships with Google in 2024.

The duration of apprenticeships ranges from 15-25 months, and are available across a number of apprenticeship frameworks. Previous intakes have included apprenticeships for Digital marketing, Infrastructure technicians, and software developers.

Google actively celebrate difference, with apprentices becoming part of their mission to build great products for every user.

Google Apprenticeships in the US (and the rest of the world).

Google doesn’t just offer apprenticeships in the UK. Alongside the established program based in London, they also run schemes in France, India, Ireland, The Netherlands, Switzerland and the US.

Although in the UK apprenticeships are an established way of starting your career, in the United States is still a relatively new concept. Google’s US apprenticeship scheme has bases across several of their US offices, offering roles in data analytics, digital marketing, and project management.

Is this a paid apprenticeship?

Yes, all apprenticeships at Google are paid opportunities and apprentices will receive a competitive compensation package, including benefits and perks. All apprenticeships are held accountable by the UK government to pay a minimum apprenticeship wage.

The salary for a Google apprenticeship will depend on the level and type of apprenticeship, as well as the job role.

Tips for success.

Google is looking for strong academic performance with a focus on subjects that are relevant to the apprenticeship you are applying for, at any level of your education. They also require the ability to speak and write in English fluently and idiomatically.
