We are undergoing an exciting Digital Transformation, and our Development team is working on modernising Seasalt’s systems and integrations to enable faster commercial growth. This apprenticeship offers an opportunity to immerse yourself within this fascinating implementation and to be part of the success, enhancing your technical skills to succeed within the apprenticeship and beyond.

As a DevOps Apprentice at Seasalt, you will embark on an exciting journey, blending education with practical experience in a fast-paced and innovative setting. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to support and improve our infrastructure, ensuring the seamless delivery of services to our customers.

Please note, as part of our Seasalt Connected approach to ways of working, this role will be based flexibly across our Cornwall head office locations – Falmouth and Redruth for a minimum of two days per week – and working remotely from home.

Please note that this role is known internally as “Azure DevOps Apprentice”.

You’ll help us by:

Day to day, you’ll learn and utilise a range of systems to enhance your technical skills and contribute to the enhancement of system security and reliability. You’ll manage and keep track of tasks using Microsoft Azure Devops, assist in the development and maintenance of our continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, and maintain existing infrastructure using the Azure portal and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform). Additionally, you’ll contribute to our code repository by utilising Git for version control.

Collaborating with the Development, Testing and Technical Services teams, you’ll develop an overarching understanding of the team, gaining new skills and working to automate processes and implement cloud solutions, using Azure Integration Services.

You’ll engage in problem-solving activities, providing effective solutions to technical challenges and writing and maintaining the relevant technical documentation.

able to work well as a team. An excellent problem solver, you’ll be able to effectively prioritise tasks and enjoy working under pressure.

For this apprenticeship, you’ll be required to have an A Level/BTEC Diploma in a STEM subject, or a Level 3 IT Apprenticeship or experience in a relevant role.

Perhaps you have developed these skills through extra curriculum activities, hobbies or through previous work experience. Wherever you have used these skills previously, we want to hear from you!

An apprenticeship is a great way to start your career, with the opportunity to progress into roles such as Technical Support Co-ordinator, Support Technician or Development roles.

The apprenticeship:

As one of our Apprentices, you will be on a 2-year fixed term contract starting in September 2024. Your working hours will be 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

With support from your line manager and the Training & Early Career Advisor, you will be working towards a Level 4 DevOps Engineer standard. This will give you an opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge of technology functions as well as gaining experience within the Development team departments.

We are looking at recruiting on potential and your enthusiasm to succeed. Because of this, we will be running an Assessment Day to find out more about your skills for this role. The Assessment Day for this role is taking place on: Monday 8th July.
