Barratt Homes

Our Degree Apprenticeship in Real Estate will give the experience, training and support you need to become a future Land Buyer or Land Manager. As a Land Buyer or Land Manager, you’ll source the best land in the right locations, helping us to create great homes with a positive legacy.

Our Land and Planning teams identify and assess development opportunities in a competitive and fast-paced field. From greenfield garden villages to smaller brownfield regeneration projects, you’ll negotiate with sellers to get the best possible deal. Key duties will involve identifying and appraising new opportunities; analysing target locations; working collaboratively with local planning authorities; assessing environmental constraints; and expanding the local contact base. From the land appraisal and bid process to the purchase, planning application and pre-start on site, you’ll work closely with the Sales, Technical and Commercial teams. You’ll also keep local communities informed and ensure that the developments are sustainable and have a positive long-term impact.

Land and Planning is a fast-moving environment, so you’ll need to be happy working at speed. Imaginative thinking and a strong business sense will be key to making sound decisions. You’ll need to be great at assessing risk, building relationships and solving problems.

Your university modules will provide academic teaching on best practice, regulation and everything an exceptional professional needs to master. By the time you’ve completed the programme, we hope you’ll be successfully purchasing new land. Your degree will equip you with the latest information about property development and planning; valuation; portfolio investment; plus people and management skills.
